My great-grandfather, William S. Hutchinson, served as a private in the 47th Wisconsin Infantry Volunteers, Co E, from 21 Jan 1865 to 4 Sep 1865.  In Madison, WI, he enlisted for one year of service. 

 His Volunteer Enlistment and other military paperwork describe him as 6 feet 1 inch tall, hazel eyes, black hair and dark complexion.  William S. Hutchinson was born 20 Feb 1843 in England and died 11 Jul 1911 in Kansas.
