Pete-

I really enjoy your web-site on the 47th Wisconsin and would like to add to it. My Great Great Grandfather MARTIN KENNEY enlisted in the 47th Wisconsin on January 26, 1865 in Co. F as a private and was discharged at Nashville, Tenn. Sept. 4, 1865. He was born in Queen's County Ireland and came over to this country in 1844. He was married in 1848 and at the time he enlisted he was a farmer and had a family. After his discharge, he returned to his farm in Farmington, Wisconsin until his death October 19, 1895. He is buried in St. John of God Cemetery in Farmington. It is interesting to note that he served in the same Regiment as Capt. Robert J.O. McGowan as we are now related in marriage. Pat McGowan Bartos who is Capt. McGowan's gr. gr. niece, is now my sister-in-law.

It certainly is a small world.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Gall McGowan-great-granddaughter

and Gene Kenney-great-grandson.
